From Rural Living to Easy Eating: Why Canned and Dehydrated Foods are My Go-To's

Living in a rural area has its perks - wide-open spaces, clean air, and plenty of peace and quiet. But when it comes to grocery shopping, things can get a little tricky. The nearest decent grocery store is a good 45-minute drive away, so I must carefully plan our meals and shopping trips. That's part of the reason I've turned to canning and dehydrating foods to make my life easier.

One of the main reasons I love my canned and dehydrated foods is their convenience. I can essentials like milk, beans, meats, and whole meals without worrying about them spoiling quickly. And when I need a quick and easy homemade meal, I can grab a jar, heat it, and voila! Dinner is served.

Dehydrated foods are also a staple in my pantry. I love dehydrating fruits and veggies, especially when they're in season. It's a great way to preserve and make them last longer without wasting valuable freezer space. Plus, I dehydrate leftover veggies, herbs, and even sauces which helps me cut down on waste and save money.

Another thing I love about canned and dehydrated foods is their versatility. I can use them in many recipes - from soups and stews to casseroles and salads. And since they have a long shelf life, I usually have them on hand when needed.

Overall, home-canned and dehydrated foods have become an essential part of my life. They're convenient, versatile, and a great way to save time and money. I highly recommend trying if you're a rural dweller like me or in a city with limited storage. You won't be disappointed!
